Wausau entertainment center acquiring bar, furnishings from Curly’s Pub
A new family entertainment center in Wausau is bringing parts of Lambeau Field up north.
Wausau On Water (WOW), an entertainment center set to open around the start of the Green Bay Packers’ 2015 regular season, acquired furnishings from Curly’s Pub, the landmark Lambeau Field restaurant. Furnishings obtained included the original bar from Curly’s Pub. The stadium restaurant is being dismantled on the second floor of the Lambeau Field Atrium in preparation for its move to the more-accessible ground level.
Co-ownership partners of WOW Evan Greenwood, Mike Vanderloop, and Julie Greenwood were following the demolition of Curly’s Pub with an interest in securing some of its history. By bringing pieces of Lambeau Field and Curly’s Pub, notably its bar, to Wausau, WOW hopes to attract all corners of Packerland in their region and throughout the state.
The bar and additional furnishings, “which would make for a great place for all Packers fans in Wausau to feel like they are a part of a Lambeau Field experience here in Wausau,” Evan Greenwood says, will be installed in WOW.
“We have been there this week helping remove the bar, and furnishings from the former restaurant,” Greenwood said.
WOW is set to start construction in late March or early April. The grand opening is currently set for early September.
