The Packers Hall of Fame Golf Classic offered one of the best opportunities for fans of the team to golf a round and then spend laid-back time with ex-players such as Jerry Kramer, Dave Robinson, LeRoy Butler, Ken Bowman, Mark Chmura, Frank Winters, Marco Rivera, Greg Koch, Bill Schroder and many more over dinner and drinks.
The event – held July 13 at The Bull in Sheboygan Falls – is a fundraiser for the Packers Hall of Fame, a separate corporation from the Packers located inside the Lambeau Field Atrium. The hall is gearing up for a grand re-opening from extensive renovations, or even a complete overhaul, and it’s due for reopening near August 21, according to office manager Gwen Borga.
After play in the five-person scramble – four individuals and one Packers celebrity or staff member – players were very accessible for autographs. The banquet hall was ringed with tables covered with autographed merchandise, given out to high bidders of silent auctions. The ceremony included a Go-TV video shot during the event, and former Packers lineman Greg Koch emceed the event with a humorous touch. He thanked Tom Murphy for his dozen years as the director of the tournament. Dale Jaeger handled the duties in taking over for Murphy this year, and he was assisted by Borga.
