The dates you need to know for 2017
Designating franchise/transition players – two-week period started Feb. 15 and ends March 1.
National scouting combine – Feb. 28-March 6 at Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis, Ind.
Free agency – Teams may negotiate with agents of potential unrestricted free agents from noon March 7 through 4 p.m. ET on March 9, the end of the 2016 league year. At 4 p.m. on the 9th, the top-51 salary cap calculation begins (teams must be under the cap), and free agency opens.
Exercising 5th-year options – on 2013 first-round draft picks must be done by 4 p.m. ET, March 9.
Owners’ meeting – March 26-29 in Phoenix, Ariz.
Draft – NFL draft runs from Apr. 27-29 in Philadelphia, Penn.
Post-Draft rookie minicamp – May 5-8 or May 12-15.
Organized Team Activities (OTAs) – TBD, usually held in May and June.
Training camp – TBD, last year it was scheduled for July 25, but the Packers had been scheduled for the hall of Fame Game.
Hall of Fame game – Aug. 3 in Canton, Ohio.
