Five games into the eight-game stretch we remember as “Run the Table,” the Minnesota Vikings showed up at Lambeau Field to have their season finally killed.
The Vikings had been the last undefeated team in the entire league at 5-0, but quickly dropped off the table. By the time they came to Green Bay in Week 16, their North Division hopes were virtually over, but they still had a dual purpose of earning a wild card bid (with losing help from other contenders) and spoiling the chances of their least-favorite foe – the Green Bay Packers.
But Aaron Rodgers, Jordy Nelson and undrafted rookie Geronimo Allison tore up the Vikings for a 38-13 lead on the way to a 38-25 triumph.
The Packers were the ones to spoil the season, mathematically eliminating Minnesota from playoff contention, becoming just the second team since 1968 to be the sole final undefeated team and miss the playoffs.
Packer fans came out in droves to enjoy the spectacle.
Meet some of the more colorful ones here!
